ISLAMABAD: Capital Cops apprehended 10 criminals from different areas and recovered drugs and weapons with ammunition from their possession, a police public relations officer said.
He said that, following the special directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad, the Islamabad capital police has intensified crackdown against the criminal elements in order to eliminate the crime from the city.
Following these directives, a Phulgran police team arrested an accused namely Khawar Zulfiqar involved in possessing illegal weapons and recovered one 30 bore pistol with ammunition from his possession. Likewise, Lohi Bher police team arrested an accused namely Muhammad Sajjid involved in drug peddling and recovered 545 gram hashish from his possession.
Similarly, the Shams Colony police team arrested three accused namely Shahid Khan, Azeem Dildar and Sohail Banaras involved in selling illegal petrol and gas cylinders. The Margalla police team arrested an accused namely Hasnain Ali involved in possessing illegal weapon and recovered one 30 bore pistol with ammunition from his possession.
Moreover, the Banigala and Shams Colony police police teams intensified the ongoing crackdown against the professional beggars and their handlers and arrested four accused from different areas of the city. Cases have been registered against the nabbed accused and further investigation is underway.
IGP Islamabad directed all senior officials for effective crackdown against the accused involved in drug peddling possessing illegal weapons. The performance of police officials in this regard would be reviewed on a continuous basis, he maintained.
