ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police witnessed a record number of promotions during the current year. IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi took special interest and directed the Departmental Promotion Committee to urgently convene meetings and promote officers against all vacant positions.
Acting upon these instructions, several important meetings of the committee were held. After evaluating officers on merit and transparency, the committee approved promotions for 1,016 officers this year. During the meetings, senior police officers reviewed the records of eligible officers from different ranks. Recommendations for officers with strong performance records were forwarded to the IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who subsequently approved their promotions.
These included promotions of 10 DSPs to SP, 27 Inspectors to DSP, 94 Sub-Inspectors to Inspector, 189 ASIs to Sub-Inspector, and 306 Head Constables to ASI. Likewise, 350 Constables were promoted to Head Constable, and 40 clerical staff members were also promoted.
IGP Islamabad stated that departmental promotion reflects increased responsibilities and trust, and that promotion is the fundamental right of every police officer.
He added that he hopes newly promoted officers will perform their duties with dedication, integrity, and professionalism, contributing to the honor of this department of martyrs and heroes.
He further said that the welfare of the police force is among his top priorities, and all officers who have passed their departmental promotion courses will be promoted on merit and transparency according to their seniority against available vacancies.
This process will continue until all vacant positions are filled.
