11 of 4 major robber, dacoit gangs busted: DIG

ISLAMABAD: During an indiscriminate crackdown against organized criminal gangs, 11 accused were apprehended, including 10 members of four gangs. Over PKR 32 million worth of gold jewelry, cash, mobile phones, and national and foreign currency were recovered.
According to the details, following the directions of IGP Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, held a press conference at Rescue-15 along with SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, the incharge RDU, and other police officials.
During the press conference, he stated that following the vision of a crime free Islamabad, the Islamabad Police Robbery & Dacoity Unit has continued indiscriminate operations against organized crime in 2026, achieving significant successes in recent high profile cases.
Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, along with SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, the in-charge RDU, and other police officers, held a press conference at Rescue 15.
On the occasion, DIG Jawad Tariq stated that Islamabad Police Robbery and Dacoity Unit continues its operations in 2026 under the vision of a crime-free Islamabad, indiscriminately targeting organized criminal activities.


Recently, the unit has achieved major successes in several serious cases, including a bank robbery in the Kohsar area, an armed robbery by the TCS gang in the Lohi Bher area, and accused involved in a blind murder case in the Kirpa area. Using modern technology and human intelligence, the police traced and arrested the accused in a short time.
DIG Islamabad stated that in the Kohsar police jurisdiction, on February 16, 2026, a private bank was robbed, police immediately registered a case no. 107 under sections 392/PPC. The organized bank robbery gang was traced in a short period using modern technical tools, CCTV footage, and human intelligence. From Peshawar and Karak, four dangerous accused including the gang leader were arrested. During investigation, it was revealed that the mastermind of the robbery was Zia Ullah, while the bank security guard Abdul Rehman had facilitated the crime. Police team also recovered PKR 3 million in cash, three pistols, and a motorcycle from their possession. The arrested individuals were identified as Zaryan Khushk, Abdul Malik, Zia Ullah, and Abdul Rehman.
Similarly, Islamabad Police traced and arrested the organized TCS gang involved in armed robberies in the Lohi Bher area, who were wanted under Case No. 108 registered on January 3, 2026, under sections 392/411.
From the possession of the arrested accused, Pakistani and foreign currency, gold jewelry, and other valuables worth over PKR 17.3 million were recovered. These accused obtained bogus SIM cards from illegal street vendors and used them to impersonate courier company representatives, calling citizens to collect parcels.
They would lure victims to their gates, enter homes by force, hold families hostage, and steal cash, gold, mobile phones, watches, and other valuables using digital banking apps to transfer funds to different accounts. The arrested accused were identified as Muneeb Sohail Rajput, Muhammad Faheem, and Iftikhar Ahmed. RDU team also arrested three members of an organized gang involved in house thefts activities, and recovered stolen valuables worth over PKR 11.5 million along with weapons and ammunition used in the crimes. The arrested individuals were identified as Sudhir, Abdul Rehman, and Abdullah.
In the Kirpa police station area, a blind murder case was registered under Case No. 46, section 302/PPC. Police team used modern technical methods and CCTV footage and successfully traced and arrested the accused Adnan Shaukat Satti.
During initial investigation, the accused revealed that he had sold his aunt’s house for PKR 6.8 million, in which the victim Hamid Khan received PKR 500,000 as earnest money. The victim kept PKR 300,000 with himself while handing over PKR 200,000 to him.
A few days later, when the victim demanded the property transfer, the accused could not complete it, and the deal was canceled. The accused further stated that he lured the victim to an isolated plot under the pretext of showing him other plots and shot him inside a car to obtain the earnest money.
At the conclusion of the press conference, DIG Islamabad stated that Islamabad Police’s indiscriminate operations against criminal elements continue, which has significantly reduced robberies and other serious crimes in the federal capital. Protection of citizens lives and property is the utmost priority of Islamabad Police.
