ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is fully committed to providing every possible travel convenience to citizens in the federal capital.
In this regard, ITP continues to take indiscriminate legal action against violators of traffic laws in order to prevent accidents and maintain smooth traffic flow. During the past week, the ITP released the weekly performance report of the ongoing special enforcement campaign to curb traffic violations.
Within one week, 112 cases were registered for traffic law violations. A total of 1,119 motorcycles and 412 vehicles were impounded at various police stations for ignoring traffic laws while driving. Additionally, legal actions were taken against 845 individuals for lane violations, 76 for driving without a license, 11 for triple riding on motorcycles, and 23 underage drivers.
Similarly, 923 cases were registered for wrong-way driving, 1,007 for not wearing a helmet, and 2,766 drivers were penalized for illegal parking.
Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Captain (Retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider directed senior officers to continue indiscriminate action against drivers involved in traffic violations. He stated that a zero-tolerance policy is being enforced against traffic law violations and emphasized that traffic police officers must ensure that no individual drives without a valid license.
