13 held during crackdown against drug pushers in Capital

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 13 persons during the last 24 hours in its crackdown against drug pushers and recovered huge quantity of narcotics, heroin and wine from them, a police spokesman.
Following directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zulfqar Khan, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqar Ud Din Syed issued directions to all zonal officers for renewed efforts against those involved in anti-social activities.
Owing these efforts, SP ( Saddar Zone) Sarfraz Ahmed Virk constituted special police team under the supervision of DSP Khalid Mehmood including SHO Golra police station Sub-Inspector Shabbir Ahmed , ASI Rana Saleem along with other arrested a drug smuggler namely Gul Badeen and recovered 17.375 kilogram hashish from him. Case has been registered against him and further investigation is underway from him. While police team also arrested two drug peddlers namely Noor Jahen and Raisat Ali and recovered 2.300 kilogram heroin from their possession.
Tarnol police arrested accused Arslan and 450 gram hashish from him. Shalimar police arrested accused Faisal Mehmood and recovered 150 gram hashish from him.
Further-More SP (City-Zone) Omer Khan constituted special team under the supervision of DSP Iqbal Khan including SHO Aabpara police Station sub-Inspector Shokat Abbasi , along with Sub-inspectors Dira Khan , Fazal KHaliq along with others arrested four accused Anwar Masih, Naseem Masih, Waheed Masih and Saneel Masih and recovered 2.250 kilogram hashish, 320 gram heroin and 25 liters alcohol from their possession. While kohsar police arrested accused Arif slaeem and recovered 30 liters alcohol from him.
Bani Gala police arrested two accused Muhammad Sajjad and Waseem Masih and recovered 100 liter wine and 370 gram hashish from their possession.
Shehzad Town police arrested accused Raza Ali and recovered 180 gram hashish from him.
Cases has been registered against him and further investigation is underway from him.
DIG (Operations) Islamabad Waqar Uddin Syed has said that these social evils would be curbed and those backing those drug peddlers and professional beggars would be dealt with iron hand. He further emphasized that this campaign would continue till elimination of anti-social elements.
