BEIJING: Fourteen teenagers in Changsha, Hunan province have been held by local police after the engaged at a group street fight on Saturday night, the Changsha police said on Sunday.
Video of the incident, resembling that of a popular mob movie from Hong Kong’s Young and Dangerous franchise, also became one of the hottest topics at local social media platforms, with many netizens criticizing them for being reckless and foolish.
The incident originated from an online tit-for-tat between 16-year-old Li and 15-year-old Zhang about a video posted by Li, according to a release from the city’s Furong district police.
Li posted a video of himself at short video platform Kuai recently, and Zhang made fun of him in the comment section and said he looks like a “peasant”.
They engaged in an online battle and made an appointment to reason with each other face to face.
They brought some of their friends and meet with each other at a park on Saturday night. After words were exchanges, the meeting turned into a group fight with them going after one another with self-made machetes.
Two people sustained major injuries and all 14 people have been held by police while the incident is under further investigation. –The Daily Mail-China Daily news exchange item
