ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s district administration has released its final report on the Eid-ul-Azha sanitation operation, revealing that 155,171 animal remains were collected and disposed off across the federal capital during the three days of Eid, while all 538 complaints received through the helpline were resolved.
The report also showed that 91,062 small animals and 64,109 large animals were sacrificed, as authorities carried out a citywide cleanup campaign alongside administrative and traffic management measures.
According to the report issued by the Islamabad district administration, special sanitation operations remained active throughout the three days of Eid-ul-Azha. Field teams worked around the clock to ensure the timely collection, transportation, and disposal of animal remains from residential areas, markets, and designated sacrifice points.
The administration reported that a total of 155,171 animal remains were removed and safely disposed of during the operation. Of the total sacrificial animals, 91,062 were small animals, including goats and sheep, while 64,109 were large animals, including cows and camels.
On the third day of Eid alone, sanitation teams disposed of remains from 4,574 animals. Authorities stated that the pace of work remained consistent throughout the operation, allowing teams to clear waste without delays and maintain cleanliness across the city.
To support the disposal process, the administration had established 137 trenches at designated locations. By the end of the operation, 130 trenches had been completely filled and closed, reflecting the scale of the disposal effort carried out during the Eid holidays.
The report highlighted the role of the public complaint management system in addressing sanitation concerns. A total of 538 complaints were received through the district administration’s helpline 1334, and officials reported a 100 percent resolution rate. Citizens contacted the helpline regarding waste collection, delayed pickups, and sanitation-related issues, all of which were addressed by the relevant teams.
In addition to helpline complaints, a third-party inspection and monitoring mechanism identified 375 sanitation-related complaints during the three-day period.
The administration stated that immediate action was taken in every reported case to ensure timely resolution.
On the third day of Eid, the helpline received 27 complaints, which were addressed without delay. Third-party monitoring teams also reported six complaints on the same day, and officials confirmed that all of them were resolved. The district administration emphasized that no sanitation backlog remained during any stage of the operation.
Waste collection and disposal activities continued throughout the three days, ensuring that no pending cases accumulated in any sector or locality.
Apart from sanitation measures, the administration also monitored traffic conditions across the capital. According to the report, traffic flow remained smooth on major roads and highways during all three days of Eid despite increased movement of residents and visitors.
Popular recreational sites across Islamabad witnessed a large number of visitors during the holiday period. Areas including Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh and Lake View Park experienced heavy public attendance as families and tourists visited these locations during the Eid holidays.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad praised the performance of sanitation and field teams, saying their continuous efforts helped ensure the timely removal and disposal of animal remains throughout the operation. He noted that coordination among government departments and the cooperation of citizens played a key role in achieving operational targets.
The administration concluded that the combined efforts of sanitation workers, monitoring teams, municipal staff, and residents contributed to the successful completion of the Eid-ul-Azha cleanup campaign, allowing Islamabad to maintain sanitation standards and public services throughout the three-day festival.
