GWADAR: Eighteen students of Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute left for China to attend three semesters at Shandong Institute of Commerce & Technology (SICT), China on October 14.
As par of the tetra-partite agreement among Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC), the University of Gwadar (UG) and Shandong Institute of Commerce & Technology (SICT), diploma students of the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute (PCTVI) first complete one year in Gwadar and then three semesters at SICT.
PCTVI has also been continuing 12-month diploma programs in Maritime and Port Management, Hotel Management & Hospitality, Information Technology, Financial Literacy, and E-Commerce. Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) and UG provide fully funded merit-based and need-based scholarships to deserving students.
According to PCTVI Executive Director Prof. Dr. Manzoor Syed, the institute aims to equip the local population with the skills necessary to support Gwadar’s economic growth, particularly as the city continues to develop through major industrial projects such as the Gwadar Port Free Zone and Export Processing Zone. “The institute plays a crucial role in meeting the maritime skilled manpower requirements for the port and surrounding industries,” he explained. All vocational programs are developed in collaboration with SICT, as well as other accredited institutions. –Agencies
