ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Traffic Police has set a deadline of October 1 for citizens to obtain their driving licenses.
Chief Traffic Officer Capt. (retd) Hamzah Humayun stated that after this deadline, there will be strict action without discrimination against drivers operating vehicles without a license.
He emphasized that driving without a license will result in an FIR being registered, the driver being arrested, and the vehicle being impounded. This policy will apply equally to all citizens, regardless of their social status.
He further stated that Islamabad Traffic Police will provide all possible facilities to the public until October 1. In this regard, citizens can obtain their licenses from the Faizabad traffic office, the F-6 facilitation center, and from traffic facilitation vans.
Citizens are also advised to always carry the original copy of their driving license, as digital copies will not be accepted under any circumstances.
CTO Islamabad urged all drivers to act as responsible citizens, obtain their driving licenses, and avoid legal trouble.
Driving without a license not only violates the law but also poses a danger to the driver’s own life and the lives of others. Islamabad Traffic Police will not allow anyone to put the lives of citizens at risk, CTO added.
