RAWALPINDI: Two Soldiers of Pakistan Army have embraced martyrdom in two separate standoffs with terrorists in Khyber Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the Military’s media affairs wing said on Wednesday.
A soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred when terrorists fired at a military post in Hangu’s Thall area, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in its first statement.
The military’s media wing added that the troops initiated a “prompt response and effectively engaged” the terrorists’ location.
“During the exchange of fire, Sepoy Waqas (age 26 years, resident of Mansehra) embraced shahadat,” the communique added. The ISPR further said that an area clearance operation was being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area. In another statement released later, ISPR said one soldier embraced martyrdom after terrorists attacked a security checkpoint in the Kech District of Balochistan.
According to the military’s media wing, terrorists opened fire at the security checkpoint but troops gave a prompt and befitting response, the statement said. During intense exchange of fire between the terrorists and security officials, Sepoy Muhammad Qaiser embraced martyrdom. The ISPR further said that following the exchange, an area search is in progress to hunt down the perpetrators of the attack.
The military’s media affairs wing said in a third statement, a group of students and faculty members of University of Baltistan and other educational institutes of Gilgit Baltistan spent a day with the Army at Field Firing Range in Ghanche district of Skardu. The students witnessed fire power demonstration and also conducted fire of small arms and were shown various army weapons and equipment during their visit, said the statement on Wednesday.–ISPR
