KARACHI: The first flight carrying 205 students stranded in Kyrgyzstan landed at Jinnah International Airport on Thursday morning. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah received the students, who were greeted by their relieved parents and relatives.
The provincial government arranged the special flight, bringing the students home after they were stranded in Kyrgyzstan. Among the returnees, 55 are girls and 150 are boys, said Chief Minister Shah while addressing the media at Karachi Airport.
“Today, 205 students have returned home. The remaining 180 will soon be brought back,” Shah stated. He added that out of the remaining students, six are injured but in stable condition.
Breaking down the numbers, Shah detailed the origins of the students: 99 from Karachi, 22 from Hyderabad, 13 from Khairpur, 15 from Naushehro Feroze, 12 each from Sukkur and Nawabshah, five each from Badin, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, and Jacobabad, three from Tando Adam, two each from Jamshoro and Kashmore, and one each from Kandhkot, Panoaqil, and Tharparkar.
“Following the incident involving our students in Kyrgyzstan, we promptly contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and made necessary flight arrangements for their return,” Shah explained.
He said the Sindh government had been coordinating with the parents and the Pakistani embassy in Kyrgyzstan from the outset.
The students expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Shah for his prompt action and support. “We thank Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for raising his voice and helping us return home,” one of the students remarked.
