ISLAMABAD: Islamabad capital police 2500 personnel will perform security duties during the holy month of Ramadan and to ensure elaborate arrangements in coordination with the notables in various areas.
According to a plan chalked out following the special directions of IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the Capital Police Office Operations Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari and SSP Operations Islamabad has devised an elaborate security plan for Ramadan. As per plan, 2500 security men will perform special duties at 1037 Masjids and 28 Imambargahs. Police officials, security guards and masjid guards will be deployed for the security of worship places in Islamabad during the month of Holy Ramadan. These security arrangements shall be supervised by DPOs while SHOs of the concerned area would conduct security checking during Namaz timings.
Police stations have been directed to coordinate with office bearers of traders union in their respective areas to ensure effective security along with security guards. Food will be provided to policemen performing duties at police pickets during Sehri and Iftari timings in Ramadan.
Special drive against the professional beggars would be launched and they should not be allowed to gather outside the worship places. Masjid committees would also not allow any stranger or outsider to stay in worship places. The police officials have also been directed to carry out special checking of hotels, motels, inns and guest houses for security purposes.
CPO/ DIG Operations Islamabad has directed all the participants to ensure compliance of these security arrangements during the month of Ramadan. Only one gate of worship would be kept open during the month of Ramadan. Mosque committees would conduct checking of worshippers through metal detectors.
The police officials have been directed to carry out special checking of hotels, motels, inns and guest houses for security purposes. Meanwhile property dealers were also directed to furnish the record of tenants to the SHOs of their respective areas. Moreover, checking at the exit and entry points may be intensified without causing any embarrassment to the citizens.
All the SDPOs and SHOs were directed to personally supervise the security arrangements during Ramadan and ensure the deployment of police officials where it was necessary and in this regard no laxity would be tolerated. He also directed police officials to brief the policemen deputed for security purposes and maintain high vigilance. He also ordered for strict security at entry and exit points of the city and keeps strict monitoring of those coming in the city or leaving it.
The CPO/DIG has also categorically directed that no laxity will be tolerated by any official in performing security duties. He asked police officials to work devotedly during this month as they have the prime responsibility to provide security to all faithfuls.
