ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police, Tarnol Police Station team, took prompt and effective action and safely recovered a 12-year-old kidnapped boy, while arresting the alleged main suspect and his two accomplices. The arrested accused have been identified as Muhammad Owais, a cousin of the kidnapped child, Muhammad Niaz, and Ali Ahmed, SSP Operations stated.
SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza said that the Tarnol Police team was conducting routine checking when they stopped and checked a suspicious vehicle. During the inspection, police officers noticed a 12-year-old boy sitting in the back seat in a frightened and distressed condition. Finding the situation suspicious, the officers took the child into confidence and questioned him separately.
The child told the police that he had been kidnapped from Abbottabad and was being brought to Islamabad. Acting immediately on the child’s statement, the police took him into safe custody and arrested all three accused present in the vehicle.
SSP Operations Islamabad further stated that during the initial investigation, it emerged that the main suspect, Muhammad Owais, is a cousin of the kidnapped child and had allegedly demanded Rs. 100 million as ransom from the child’s father. Due to the timely intervention of the police, the serious kidnapping-for-ransom attempt was foiled and the child was safely recovered.
SSP Operations Islamabad said that effective checking, professional expertise and a prompt police response enabled the safe recovery of the innocent child and the arrest of those allegedly involved in the crime. Further investigation of the arrested accused is underway, while all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly examined. The child’s parents expressed their happiness and relief at the safe recovery of their son, thanked Islamabad Police, and appreciated the police team’s timely action.
SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza said that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the foremost priority of Islamabad Police. He added that indiscriminate and effective action against criminal elements will continue, and every possible measure will be taken to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
