-COVID-19 starts griping Indian Premier League

Delhi: The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 14th edition has been hit by novel coronavirus after two players tested positive during routine testing.
The two players who have returned COVID-19 positive are Kolkata Knight Riders’ spinner Varun Chakravarthy and seam bowler Sandeep Warrier.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the COVID-19 burst in IPL’s biosecure bubble after Chakravarthy recently left to carry out a scan on his shoulder and that is where he might have been exposed to the virus.
As a consequence, today’s match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore has been rescheduled.
On the other hand, three members of the Chennai Super Kings’ contingent also returned positive for COVID-19. Chief executive officer K Viswanathan, bowling coach L Balaji and a bus cleaner have tested positive for the virus.
It must be noted that India on Monday reported more than 300,000 (overall 19.93 million) new coronavirus cases for a 12th straight day, taking its overall caseload to just shy of 20 million, while deaths from Covid-19 rose by 3,417 (overall 218,959).
Remember, ICC is also concerned over the deteriorating situation of COVID-19 in India as they are scheduled to host the T20 World Cup later this year. The competition may relocate to United Arab Emirates (UAE)
