47 drug suppliers apprehended in 72 hours

ISLAMABAD: Capital Cops have appealed to the people to come forward and help police in combating the menace of drugs. DIG Operations Islamabad Afzaal Ahmad Kausar along with SSP Operations Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanweer and Additional SP Islamabad Farhat Abbas Kazmi conducted a press conference here at Rescue-15.
DIG Operations said that Islamabad Police had launched a major operation against drug suppliers to eliminate this menace as per the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan. Afzaal Ahmad Kausar told media that from 26th July to 28th July 2021, a major operation was conducted in the whole city and the police apprehended 47 drug suppliers and cases were registered against them. He said that 8230 gram heroin, 19698 gram hashish and 519 gram Ice was also recovered from their possession.
Numerous drug suppliers have previous criminal record of supplying drugs and cases have been registered in different police stations. The DIG said that IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ur Rehman had also sought help from Ulema to eliminate this menace and a seminar was also arranged at ICCI.
Islamabad Police also visiting mosques on every Friday and requesting public to cooperate with police for this purpose, the DIG maintained. “Drug is destroying the future of our young generation. We are also trying to cut the demand to thrash the supply chain†, Afzaal Kausar vowed.
DIG Operations said that they were striving to break the network of drug suppliers. He also appealed to the parents to keep an eye on their children so that they don’t fall prey to the menace. He also asked the media to be part of the awareness campaign against use of drugs. He hoped that through a collective effort, we can save the future of the nation.
