ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Police has issued a foolproof security plan for the Chehlum procession in the capital.
According to plan, over 5,000 officers and personnel will be deployed for the security of the Chehlum procession. The IGP Islamabad stated that the central procession in sector G-6 is of utmost importance, and all DIGs, SSPs, and SPs will be deployed to ensure its security.
To guarantee top-level security arrangements, the Operations, Investigation, CIA, CTD, and all five divisions of the police will be fully mobilized. Inner and outer cordons will be established for the procession route, along with rooftop duties. Special deployment of snipers, CTD commandos, and personnel at vantage points will also be ensured.
He further stated that the security will be organized into seven layers. Every individual entering the procession will have to pass through three security checkpoints. Police, Rangers and other law enforcement departments will jointly perform security duties.
A comprehensive digital surveillance system with modern cameras is active across the city, while Safe City and mobile control rooms will remain fully functional throughout the event.
The Chehlum procession will cover a distance of 3.88 kilometers and will conclude at the same point where it began.
IGP Islamabad further advised the public to avoid illegal parking around the procession area and to use the designated parking areas.
This will help maintain an organized traffic system in the city and ensure both security and public convenience during the event.
