ISLAMABAD: On the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, Islamabad Police are continuing an effective crackdown against criminal elements to prevent crime and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
During various operations, 54 criminals involved in serious offences were arrested, including 46 court absconders, proclaimed offenders and previously-recorded criminals. Eight other accused involved in drug peddling and illegal possession of weapons were also arrested. Police recovered 785 grams of ice, 200 grams of hashish, 41 liquor bottles, one gun and two pistols of different bores along with ammunition from the arrested accused. Cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, grand search and combing operations were conducted in different areas under the supervision of zonal SPs. During these operations, 150 persons, 72 houses, 17 shops, 6 hotels, 137 motorcycles and 50 vehicles were checked. Eight suspicious persons and 14 motorcycles were shifted to different police stations for verification. One suspect involved in illegal possession of weapons was also arrested, and a rifle along with ammunition was recovered.
