Players are physically fit, skills are better than expected: Misbah

Worcester: Pakistan team’s head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq has revealed that the players have proved team management wrong in terms of fitness and skills after coming from a gap of three-months due to COVID-19 lockdown.
“After a long time, players have returned to practice. It’s great to see that the problems we were expecting have not happened. Players are physically fit and their skills are better than we expected,” Misbah said, in a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Misbah thinks that the players will get better and better as the training progresses. “Facilities are great, they are getting two sessions. According to me, everyone is recovering everything very quickly,” he added.
The 46-year-old also talked about two inter-squad matches which Pakistan will play in Worcester before arriving in Derbyshire.
“As far as the matches are concerned, we will pair them and try to give them one session. A set of five bowlers will be assigned to bowl 90 overs each day. We will then make two teams that will play against each other and will play four-day matches in the same way,” he maintained.
Misbah also emphasized that there is a lot of planning behind this tour as we picked a 29-member squad.
“Looking forward is very important for us. Facing bowlers in the middle, getting match practice is important if you haven’t played for a long time. We have a plan for each player according to the white and red ball. It will be great for us to get gelled going forward in the future, ” he concluded. – Agencies
