Bishkek: Kabar Kyrgyzstan plans to purchase a Russian vaccine against COVID-19, Deputy Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Mademin Karataev told at a briefing today.
“There are plans. We do not yet know the exact amount, but when Russia starts producing it in mass quantities, we are ready to buy it,” he said.
Earlier, Russia reported that it registered the first vaccine against coronavirus.
While, Kyrgyzstan reported on Sunday 211 new COVID-19 cases.
Deputy Minister of Health Mademin Karataev said at online meeting that the total number of the infected in the country made 41,856.
He also reported 2 deaths from the novel coronavirus over the past day, bringing the death toll to 1,495, while 355 others were cured and discharged from hospitals, increasing the total recoveries to 34,306.
Moreover, In the past day, Kyrgyzstan’s recoveries from COVID-19 coronavirus infection and community – acquired pneumonia increased by 355, the press service of the Republicand Headquarters for Combating COVID-19 said Sunday.
A total of 34 thousand 306 patients throughout the republic have cured since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of Aug. 16, another 211 cases of novel coronavirus were registered in the country, total now at 41,856.
2 more virus-related deaths were recorded, raising the death toll to 1,495.
On the other hand, Russian doctors sent to Kyrgyzstan to assist in combating COVID-19 coronavirus infection summed up their work.
“We arrived in Kyrgyzstan on July 23,” Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan Evgeny Kustov said at a briefing Sunday.
“We visited and worked in 31 health-care organizations throughout the republic. We worked on forming and improving COVID-19 treatment methods. We had a productive exchange of experience with Kyrgyz doctors,” Kustov added.
