Southampton: Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq thinks Former Indian captain MS Dhoni changed the whole face of Indian cricket.
The 39-year-old Dhoni confirmed his retirement on Instagram on Saturday. Under his captaincy, India won all three major ICC tournaments. T20 World Cup in 2007. World Cup in 2011 and Champions Trophy in 2013.
“He is a big name in Indian cricket, he has served Indian cricket very well. He has got all the trophies in his bag. He was such a cool captain on the outside, but from the inside such an aggressive player,” Misbah told AFP.
Misbah added that he completely changed the mentality of the Indian team. “One of the greats I think, the way he changed the approach and especially he achieved so much for Indian cricket, winning all major trophies,” he added.
“He was such a ‘shrewd’, you could say, captain, the way he handled the team, the way he just developed the team and changed the team from seniors players, brought up some juniors,” he maintained.
It must be noted that Dhoni represented India all three formats of the game. He played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is, scoring 17266 runs since his ODI debut in 2004.
