Hangzhou: Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province, on Thursday unveiled Window, the logo for the Hangzhou International Day.
The logo is mainly comprised of a window, the Earth, the Qiantang River tidal bore and the internet icon. The letter H and the Earth constitute the core motif. H is the initial letter of Hangzhou, while the open window gives glimpses into the shared community of mankind.
The block surface of vertical silver lines and gradient grey not only outlines the shape of an open window, but also evokes the association with a digital display emitting infinite possibilities. The blue curve and block surface are suggestive of chip design, as well as the ease of bold Chinese ink-wash strokes. The green lines that surround the blue waters and the planet represent speed and power, implying mankind is going forward hand-in-hand in a connected world.
The International Day logo of “Window” epitomizes the vision and admirable practices of Hangzhou continuing its opening-up drive for more international exchanges and cooperation, with deep commitment to the community of a shared future for mankind.
The International Day logo of Window was designed by the prominent Chinese artist Han Meilin.
Hangzhou designated Sept 5 as International Day in April 2018 to mark the anniversary of the closing of the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit. It has now become a permanent annual event designed to raise the city’s international profile. – The Daily Mail-China Daily News exchange item
