Case registered against shopkeepers for assaulting cops

ISLAMABAD: PS Khanna on Monday registered a case against shopkeepers who assaulted a police team at ‘Aqeel plaza’
during raid at mobile shops, at the tip of a dacoit selling cellular phones at the place.
According to details, a team of CIA of Capital Cops nabbed a dacoit Zeeshan Tariq for his involvement in
dacoity incidents at PS Secretariat jurisdiction area. Moreover, during preliminary investigation, the nabbed dacoit confessed of selling snatched mobiles at Bangish and Al-Jannat Mobile shops at Aqeel plaza situated at Khanna Bridge.
At the information, the cop team raided shops and recovered receipts of mobiles purchased by shopkeepers. During the raid, the alleged shopkeepers resisted police team to avoid arrest and assisted nabbed dacoit to escape from the scene. Two shopkeepers Sahil and Arman, along with others, assaulted the police team, broke the windscreen of the cop vehicle and tore uniforms of the cops.
Cops have registered a case against the shopkeepers who assaulted the police team and interfered in official matters. Further investigation is underway into the matter and IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan has directed SP Rural Zone Farooq Amjed Buter to ensure arrest of accused at the earliest, who assaulted the policemen.
