Kyrgyz President vows to curb corruption

Bishkek: President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov held on Thursday a regular meeting of the country’s Security Council with the participation of heads of state bodies.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz president, during a meeting of the Security Council law-enforcement bodies heard information about the course of struggle against corruption, and the draft of a new State Strategy for 2021-2024 to combat corruption in the Kyrgyz Republic and eliminate its causes was presented also.
Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov, Prosecutor General Otkurbek Dzhamshitov, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Orozbek Opumbayev and Chairman of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes Bakir Taiyrov presented information on the work in the fight against corruption.
They voiced the results of analytical materials on the causes and measures to reduce corruption, provided statistical data, and focused on the most high-profile criminal cases.
Highlighting the positive aspects of their activities, the president also made a number of comments and suggestions.
In addition, Sooronbay Jeenbekov set a goal to cleanse ranks of unscrupulous employees, adding that all those involved in corruption, despite regalia and past achievements, will be severely punished.
At the meeting of the Security Council, the draft of a new State Strategy for 2021-2024 to combat corruption in the Kyrgyz Republic and eliminate its causes was considered and approved. The document was prepared by the Secretariat of the Security Council with the participation of independent experts.
According to Security Council Secretary Damir Sagynbayev, the proposed anti-corruption strategy is designed not only to combat corruption, but also provides preventive measures.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov emphasized with satisfaction that the new draft Strategy includes a number of practical measures aimed at preventing and combating corruption.–Agencies
