‘Ready to work with Pakistani gov’t for betterment of Football’

Karachi: FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino said they are ready to collaborate with the Pakistani government for betterment of football in country.
Replying to Pakistani journalist during the 70th FIFA Congress, Infantino said FIFA doesn’t tolerate interference of government sports matter but is always ready to help governments to lift football in their respective countries.
“We don’t accept government’s interference in sports but we always want to collaborate with governments for the betterment of footballs,” said FIFA’s head.
“Unfortunately, Pakistan is one of those countries where we had to set-up the Normalisation Committee (NC) to normalize the situation. We believe in dialogues and if the Pakistani government wants our help, we are ready to work together for the betterment of football there,” he added.
Infantino also showed confidence in Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s NC headed by Hamza Khan and is looking forward to normalisation of situation in the country for football. “It is good to see FIFA’s NC working towards the betterment of game in the country. We and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) are in link with NC and I hope things will settle down soon,” he concluded.
It must be noted here that Ashfaq Hussain Shah-led body took charge of the football governing body in the country after winning the elections conducted by the Supreme Court but later on FIFA rejected the elections and appointed independent NC to conduct new and fair elections for electing the president. – Agencies
