Nasir might be deported back to Pakistan

Bureau Report

Karachi: Pakistani cricketer Nasir Jamshed is due to release on October 21 after he was sentenced to jail in February 2020 in the spot-fixing case by Crown Court Manchester.
The 30-year-old Jamshed can now face a huge problem as he is likely to get deported back to Pakistan despite having a wife and daughter in Birmingham. Jamshed has been living in the UK on a spousal visa as his wife, Dr. Samara Afzal was born in England. Before the trial, the visa was due for renewal in February 2019 but the court decided to put off a renewal decision until the case was decided.
According to ESPNCricinfo, he has also received notification of intention to deport and been told that he would be further detained. Jamshed is appealing the decision and will apply for bail on October 21, the date of his release.
The court is likely to take a final decision next week and it is possible that he could be deported immediately and expected to fight the decision from Pakistan.
It must be noted Jamshed was sentenced to 17 months following his involvement in spot-fixing during Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He was charged for bribing fellow cricketers and forcing them to fix the matches.
