Pak keen to promote parliamentary ties with Japan: Shahzad Waseem

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the House in the Senate, Senator Dr. Shahzad Waseem has said that Pakistan is keen to broaden its parliamentary relations with Japan. “We want to promote bilateral cooperation with Japan in diverse sectors,†he said while talking to Mr. SHINDO Yusuke, acting ambassador of Japan to Pakistan who called on him here on Tuesday.
During the meeting various issues of mutual interests came under discussion and the Leader of the House in the Senate stressed the need of expediting exchange of parliamentary delegations. He called for promoting people -to -people contacts between the two countries and said that there is a favourable investment climate for foreign investors in Pakistan.
Sen. Dr. Shahzad Waseem said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision is to promote products manufactured within the country and the government is encouraging the investors in this connection. There are vast opportunities in the manufacturing sector; he said, adding that Pakistan and Japan can also stimulate cooperation in the tourism sector.
The Leader of the House in the Senate said that Pakistan and Japan have always extended exemplary cooperation at international forums and will continue this cooperation in future also. Japanese acting ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. SHINDO Yusuke briefed the Senator about the importance of bilateral cooperation. He said that Pakistan is an important country for Japan and steps are being taken to boost investment in various sectors and to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Mr. SHINDO Yusuke lauded the Pakistan’s manpower and said that there are vast opportunities for the workforce of Pakistan in Japan which needed to be exploited. Leader of the House in the Senate, Senator Dr. Shahzad Waseem is also convener of Pakistan Japan Friendship Group. The meeting was also attended by Senator Seemi Ezdi.
