SI arrested for blackmailing citizen

RAWALPINDI: A Sub-Inspector identified as Idrees, was arrested for misbehaving with a resident at Rawalpindi. A case was registered against him at PS Peerwadhai.
According to the FIR, the officer arrested the complainant’s accomplice for parking their car at an incorrect spot and then asked for money to let him go. “The officer took Rs15,000 from me and then told me to pay Rs20,000 more to release my friend from jail,†he said, adding that all this time, the officer kept misbehaving with him. The complainant was visiting Rawalpindi with two of his friends from Peshawar.
SP Rawalpindi Rao Mazhar confirmed that Idrees had been found guilty by an investigation committee. “A case has been registered against him. We will not tolerate any misbehavior with residents,†he added.

Impersonator caught with
wireless set, uniform

ISLAMABAD: Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police has arrested an impersonator involved in minting money from people after portraying himself as an officer of law enforcement agency and recovered uniform, wireless set and badges from him.
According to details, following the directives of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfqar Khan, DIG Operations Waqar-ud-Din Syed issued directions to all zonal officers for renewed efforts against those involved in anti-social activities. SP Investigation Malik Naeem Iqbal constituted a team under the supervision of DSP CIA Hakim Khan and other police officials including SI Nadeem Tahir along with others. The team was conducting checking near Faizabad and arrested an impersonator having uniform, wireless set and badges. The accused has been identified as Haleem Akhtar and it was revealed during the initial investigation from him that he used to mint money from citizens on the pretext of giving jobs to them. Police have got his physical remand from the concerned court and further investigation is underway from him. IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan and DIG Operations Waqar-ud-Din Syed have appreciated this performance and directed all police officials for strict vigilance against cheaters and fraudsters.

Man impersonating himself
as Army Captain busted

RAWALPINDI: A man impersonating himself as Army captain was arrested by the Crime Investigation Agency at Rawalpindi, on Friday afternoon. According to the police, the suspect, identified as Suleman, used to spread terror in his neighbourhood and stole from multiple residents by taking millions of rupees for them in the name of fake investments. He was arrested during a raid in the Faizabad area. “Suleman told people he would get them jobs and took money from them in return,” a police officer said.
The CIA seized a wireless set, fake army uniforms and badges from his possession. A case has been registered. The suspect has been taken into police custody and is being interrogated. Further investigations are under way.
