Siraj slams govt over economic policies

Bureau Report

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has said that the statistics used by the PM to claim an economic revival are not factual.
A statement issued by Sirajul Haq said that the country’s exports have not increased by a single rupee in the last four months. He raised the question that if the economy is recovering, then why is inflation rising each day and why is the country on its knees in front of IMF.
The leader said that Pakistan has to choose between a usurious economy and the Islamic system. Until the interest rate system is dismantled, the dream of getting the country’s economy back on track will remain a dream. He advised that the government make gradual reforms to usher in an Islamic economic system, which the Jamaat-e-Islami would support.
Talking about the recent blasphemous caricatures appearing out of France, he said that the Islamic countries are yet to take a clear stand on the issue. Sirajul Haq demanded that an OIC meeting be convened immediately and a clear strategy be adopted to respect all religions.
Regarding the US elections, he said that whether Trump stays in office or gets succeeded by Joe Biden, nothing is going to change for Pakistan.
