Pakistan registers over 10% growth in home remittances

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan by recording 10.1% growth in home remittances during the last ten years has outperformed other countries of the region including Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India which recorded a growth of 5.6%, 6.4%, 6% and 5.3% respectively during the same period.
The launch of Roshan Digital Accounts (RDAs) was a great step forward in streamlining and steadying the growth of home remittances which have already risen by 10.1 percent from USD 9.6 billion in 2010 to USD 22.50 billion in 2019 with the figure touching an impressive USD 23.12 billion mark in FY 2020.
These figures and details were highlighted by panelists during a well-attended webinar arranged jointly by the High Commission for Pakistan, Ottawa, and the Consulate General of Pakistan, Toronto, on the launch of Roshan Digital Accounts for the non-resident Pakistanis, a press release received here from Ottawa, Canada on Thursday said.
A steady growth in home remittances reflected on the scale of commendable contribution made by the Pakistani Diaspora to the socio-economic development and prosperity of their country. High Commissioner for Pakistan to Canada Raza Bashir Tarar welcomed the participants.–PR
