PM directs to control inflation

-Rejects strategy to counter opposition’s propaganda over inflation
-Asks team members to highlight government’s economic achievements on media
-Says all economic indicators showing positive trend

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday chaired a meeting of the Political Committee and reviewed the overall political situation in the country and media strategy of the incumbent government.
According to sources, the prime minister directed the members of the economic team to highlight the successes achieved by the government on media.
“All economic indicators are highlighting a positive trend,” the prime minister said while lamenting the opposition over spreading propaganda against the government regarding inflation.
Imran Khan said that it was due to the policies of the previous governments-led by opposition parties- that the masses now had to suffer from their consequences.
“We have overcome the effects of their economic decisions after two years of work and finally the economy is witnessing stability,” he said.
He said that the benefit of the growing economy would soon be shifted to the masses. “The economic team should disseminate among masses as to how previous governments ruined the economy,” he said adding that the public gatherings in Swat and Hafizabad once again proved that they enjoy the confidence of the masses.
Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan while stressing on the need of providing relief to the common man, on Monday directed for strict monitoring of timely availability of all food basket commodities.
He was talking to Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam who called on him here to brief in detail about the availability of food items.
During the meeting matters relating to the introduction of modern seed technology and its importance in enhancing productivity were discussed.
Earlier, The nation is celebrating the 143rd birth anniversary of Dr Allama Muhammmad Iqbal, the Poet of the East, with national zeal and fervour today.
Paying tribute to the poet, the prime minister tweeted: ” Iqbal’s thoughts continue to inspire & guide. ”
He also shared a short excerpt from Iranian intellectual and author Dr Ali Shariati’s article on Allama Iqbal, which reads: “He [Iqbal] is a great mystic, with a pure spirit, delivered of materiality and, at the same time, a man who respects and honors science, technological progress, and the advancement of human reason in our age.”
Earlier today, a change of guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Dr Allama Iqbal to mark his birth anniversary.
A contingent of the Pakistan Navy assumed guard duties at the mausoleum. Pakistan Navy’s Station Commander, Commodore Naimatullah, was the chief guest.
