Maqsood’s 80 goes in vain as Sultans beat Zalmi by 22 runs

Karachi: Peshawar Zalmi lost to Multan Sultans in practice match by 22 runs despite Sohaib Maqsood’s power-packed 80 runs off 54 balls.
Maqsood alongside Imam-ul-Haq scored 99 runs together to lay down a solid foundation for the chasing side but their departure put Zalmi under pressure. Imam scored 49 runs off 34 balls with the help of six boundaries and a six. For Sultans, Mohammad Irfan bagged two wickets while JUnaid Khan and Mohammad Ilyas took a wicket each to restrict opponents to 172-4. Earlier, skipper Shan Masood (66) and Ravi Bopara (57) drove Sultans to 194-3 in 20 overs. They both scored 63 runs for the third wicket to strengthen their team’s score. Rilee Rossouw contributed 43 runs off 24 balls with the help of four boundaries and as many sixes. Carlos Brathwaite, Hardus Viljoen, and Rahat Ali bagged a wicket each. On the other hand, the practice match between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars has been abandoned due to logistic issues.
