CANBERRA: Royal Military College (RMC) Duntroon, Canberra on Thursday held memorial services at the College to commemorate its Pakistani Cadet Graduate, Lt Nasir Hussain Khalid Selhria Shaheed who rendered ultimate sacrifice while performing his duties to the Nation in North Waziristan District on 4 September 2020.
He thereby upheld the rich and deep embedded traditions of the esteemed institution of Australian Defence Forces. Lt Selhria’s name has also been engraved on the Monumental Stone at the RMC, Duntroon dedicated to the memory of its graduates who gave their lives in the service of their country, According to a press release issued by High Commission for Pakistan in Canberra, Australia.
Memorial Services were attended by College Staff, Graduating Course, Faculty,Pakistan’s Defence Advisor Brigadier Shoaib Bin Akram, Tamgha e Basalat and his spouse Tahira Gul. The services included: Run down on Pakistan Army’s contribution in War on Terror, Narration of Lt Nasir Selhria Shaheed’s short but accomplished Military life, Talk by Pakistan’s Defence Advisor, to the Graduating Class on Role of Young Officers in Future War, Laying of Wreath on behalf of Corps of Staff Cadets, Australian and Pakistan Armies and the College, at the monumental stone, The ‘Last Post’ / National anthems of two Nations, Prayers for remembrance, Peace and Holy Quran recitation. The gesture of honouring the Pakistani Cadet Graduate Lt. Nasir Hussain Khalid Selhria has been highly lauded by the High Commissioner for Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Babar Amin who has expressed his gratitude to the Australian Ministry of Defence, and Australian Defence Forces for the ownership of Lt. Selhria by the Royal Military College Duntroon. The gesture, he added, would further deepen the already strong ties between Pakistan and Australia as well as their Armed Forces. – PR
