ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday issued call-up notice to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s close aides while making progress in an investigation into corruption allegations.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s close aides including Gul Asghar and Noor Asghar have been summoned by NAB investigators on December 10. The accused persons are facing charges of possessing assets beyond known sources of income and their alleged involvement in corrupt practices.
Both accused have been directed to appear at 11:00 am on December 10 where he will be questioned by a combined investigation team of the anti-corruption watchdog.
Earlier on September 22, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter had summoned Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on October 1 in assets beyond means case.
However, the religiopolitical party’s JUI-F had claimed that its supremo had not received any notice from the anti-graft watchdog.
The accountability watchdog had initiated an inquiry against JUI-F chief in assets beyond means case.
Earlier September 30, an accountability court had extended physical remand of Fazal’s close aide Moosa Khan for five days.
The bureau produced him before the court on expiry of his previous remand and requested an extension in his remand for further investigation.
The national graft buster had arrested Moosa Khan on September 23 on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to sources of his income. He is a former DFO and his eldset son Tariq Baloch is Fazl’s personal secretary.
It is pertinent to mention here that the corruption watchdog is also investigating the JUI-F chief in an assets beyond means case.
On September 29, the bureau had said that the inquiry against Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman is continuing in NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He could be summoned to give his view on the ongoing inquiry against him, it said.
The NAB, however, did not give any date for his summoning saying the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman could be summoned as per law to give an explanation.
