Islamabad: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Wasim has stated that the board is in constant talks with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in order to get players back to training ahead of the all-important series.
While talking exclusively to ARY News’ reporter, PCB CEO revealed that the NZC is also reaching out to their government and health ministry as it will help players to get used to the conditions as the T20I series is scheduled to start from December 18.
“We are trying to communicate with NZC every day and they are further talking to their ministry of health because they are instructed to follow the protocols set by their government,” Khan said.
“We are doing everything possible to get players back to the training regime as it will become easy for them to get used to the conditions,” he maintained.
Misbah-ul-Haq’s tenure as the chief selector ended on November 30 and two former cricketers Moin Khan and Mohammad Akram have emerged as strong candidates to replace him. On this, Khan said that the name will be announced in the upcoming days.
“We will look to announce in the ongoing week as two to three candidates are in contact with PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani,” he maintained.
Regarding the New Zealand tour of Pakistan next year, Wasim is fully confident that they will come before the England tour in October 2021.
