Christchurch: Two more members of the Pakistan squad have tested positive for COVID-19 in New Zealand.
The number of infected individuals is now 10 of the 53-man squad. Both cases are historical.
“Two members of the Pakistan men’s cricket team we reported yesterday as under investigation tested positive at day 6 routine testing. These people are confirmed as having historical infections, and will be counted in our total as they have not been counted overseas,” the New Zealand health ministry said in a statement.
“The team is scheduled to have its routine day 9 tests today. Decisions around exemptions from managed isolation requirements which would allow the team to train are still under consideration,” it added.
Note, six members of the squad had tested positive on the first day of the team’s arrival while a seventh member tested positive on November 25. Two of the six initial COVID-19 positive cases in the Pakistan squad are no longer infectious. Therefore, are allowed to join the team. After day 6 testing, 42 people returned negative and three were under investigation. One tested positive yesterday while the remaining two were announced today. – PNP
