China, EU discuss investment treaty

BEIJING: China and the European Union (EU) held the 35th round of negotiations on a bilateral investment treaty from Dec. 6 to 11, the Ministry of Commerce said Monday.
The two sides conducted negotiations on the text of the agreement as well as remaining issues on their list, making positive progress, the ministry said in a statement published on its website.
The Ministry of Commerce said the 34th round of bilateral trade relations was held in November this year.
China and the European Union (EU) held the 34th round of negotiations on a bilateral investment treaty from Nov 16 to 20.
The two sides conducted negotiations on the text of the agreement as well as remaining issues on their list, making positive progress, the ministry said in a statement on its website.
Progress was seen during 33rd round of bilateral investment treaty negotiations.
The negotiations from Oct 18 to 23 focused on the text of the agreement as well as the issue of market access, MOC spokesperson Gao Feng said at a regular news briefing.
Despite the COVID-19 epidemic, China and the EU had eight rounds of formal negotiations this year and both sides have taken measures to facilitate practical solutions. –PNP
