Rawalpindi: The 26-year-old Hasan Ali took 10 wickets as Pakistan beat South Africa by 95 runs in the second Test at Pindi Cricket Stadium.
This is Pakistan’s first series win against South Africa in 18 years as they last pulled a series win back in 2003.
South Africa coming into Day 5 needed 243 more runs to win with nine wickets in hand. Hasan removed well-settled Rassie Van der Dussen (48) in the second over of the day by rattling his stumps and later trapped senior batter Faf du Plessis (5) in front.
Pakistan looked hopeless then as Aiden Markram and middle-order batsman Temba Bavuma replied back steadily and added 106-runs for the fourth wicket.
The 26-year-old Markram registered his fifth Test ton (108 off 243 balls), his first away century while Bavuma (61 off 125 balls) scored his 15th Test fifty.
Pakistan needed a wicket and skipper Babar Azam took a new ball, handing it to Shaheen Shah and Hasan Ali straight away.
Hasan with the new cherry possessed high-quality skills as he removed Markram and Proteas captain Quinton de Kock in two consecutive balls.
From the other end, Shaheen received the credit for his channel bowling. Bavuma nicked one off Shaheen and then it was a matter of time for Pakistan to wrapped up the innings.
Hasan returned with yet another wicket and completed 10-wickets per match, becoming only the second Pakistani to achieve this feat at Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Shaheen dismissed KeshavMaharaj and KagisoRabada for naught while Yasir Shah wrapped up the innings by removing Wiaan Mulder. Hasan finished with figures of 5/60 while Shaheem claimed 4/51.
Hasan was awarded player of the match while Mohammad Rizwan for scoring 166 runs in Test series, claimed player of the series award.
Both teams will now lock horns in a three-match T20I series at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore from February 11.
