COAS holds defense talks with Lankan, Bahraini Generals

-The visiting dignitaries acknowledge Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace,
stability
-Army Chief says Pakistan values relations with both Countries

RAWALPINDI: Commander of the National Guard of the Kingdom of Bahrain General Sheikh Mohamed Bin lsa Al-Khalifa called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the military’s media wing, matters pertaining to mutual interest, regional security especially the Afghan peace process and measures to further enhance professional cooperation between both the armies were discussed in the meeting.
During the meeting, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistan values its strong diplomatic, economic and defence relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Both the leaders reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation including efforts for peace and security in the region, said ISPR.
On the occasion, the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s positive role for regional peace and stability.
Earlier in the day, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Commander Sri Lankan Army General Shavendra Silva called on COAS at GHQ, a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The military’s media wing said that matters of mutual interest, regional security issues with particular reference to enhanced military cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
“The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region, especially in the Afghan peace process and pledged to further enhance bilateral relations between both countries,” the statement added.
Earlier on arrival at GHQ, visiting dignitary laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented the Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary.
Earlier this month, Commander Qatar Emiri Land Forces Major General Saeed Hassen Mohammad Al-Khayareen called on General Qamar at GHQ.
During the meeting, matters of mutual and professional interest, regional security situation including the Afghan peace process and enhanced bilateral defence and security cooperation were discussed.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Army’s sincere efforts for regional peace and reiterated that Pakistan and Qatar share brotherly relations which over a period of time are transforming into mutually beneficial ties.
British High Commissioner Christian Turner also called on COAS Gen Bajwa earlier and discussed the Afghan peace process among other matters of mutual interest.
The military’s media wing said that the meeting took place at GHQ in Rawalpindi in which the overall regional security situation also came under discussion.
Earlier on March 10, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had held one-on-one meetings with Commander Bahrain Nation Guard Field Marshal Mohammed Bin Isa Al Khalifa and Bahrain National Security Advisor Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa during his visit to Bahrain.–ISPR
