Bishkek: Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Zhyldyz Bakashova met with Nazira Artykova, Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in the Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Zhyldyz Bakashova expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization for repeatedly providing humanitarian assistance to the country to combat the spread of COVID-19 and expressed hope for further fruitful joint work.
“Given that the Kyrgyz Republic may have found itself in a difficult situation due to the global shortage of COVID-19 vaccines, we appreciate the significant role of the World Health Organization in establishing the COVAX mechanism and the decision to endorse the republic as a nation eligible for access to the COVAX mechanism.
I express our hope that the expected 420,000 doses of vaccines will arrive as soon as possible as part of the global COVAX program.
As you know, due to the reorienting hospitals for COVID-19 patients, we have experienced disruptions in the provision of services for non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and in this regard I would like to note the importance of the expected humanitarian cargo of cardiac monitors and drugs for non-communicable diseases,” said Bakashova.
In turn, Head of the WHO Country Office in Kyrgyzstan Nazira Artykova noted the commitment and readiness of the organization to continue close and effective cooperation with the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic for the progressive implementation of planned goals and objectives in the health sector, including in the fight against the pandemic COVID. – Agencies
