UAF discusses ways to enhance per acre Agricultural productivity

FAISALABAD: It is prerequisite to boost up per acre agricultural productivity and per animal livestock production for vertical growth in order to ensure food security keeping ever-growing population and shrinking agricultural land in view, said Prof Dr Anas Sarwar Qureshi, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). He was presiding over the deans and directors meeting at syndicate room. He said that per acre production of the country was low compared to the rest of the world. He urged agricultural, livestock and veterinary scientists to pace up their research work on war-footing for a better agricultural future. He said that the university, being the mother of all agricultural university in the subcontinent, has always played a key role in addressing the agricultural and livestock issues. To restore its glory, it is need of hour for joint efforts on the part of all faculty members.
Dr. Anas Sarwar Qureshi said that without strict compliance of merit and quality education, we cannot compete with the world. He said that the university will open form June 7 for PhD, M.Phil / MSc students under the Covid SOPs whereas students are told to ensure themselves vaccinated. He said that they had also set up a two-member committee comprising Prof Dr Sajjad-ur-Rehman and Dean Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Muhammad Irshad for the purpose of vaccinating the staff and students of the university in collaboration with district administration and health department.
During the meeting, it was decided that online examinations would be conducted for students of undergraduate degree programs. It was also decided in the meeting that entrance tests would be mandatory for postgraduate degree programs whereas the procedure for admission to undergraduate programs would be announced soon.All deans, directors and administration heads attended the meeting.
