PM briefed on intelligence coordination at ISI HQs

-Chairs meeting on enhanced intelligence cooperation at ISI HQs
-Expresses satisfaction over the performance of NICC
-Briefing attended by ministers, Chiefs of ISI, IB, and FIA

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday chaired a special meeting of the National Intelligence Coordination Committee (NICC), where a comprehensive discussion on “enhanced intelligence cooperation” was held.
The meeting was held at the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Secretariat in Islamabad.
“A comprehensive briefing followed by a discussion on enhanced intelligence cooperation was held,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement issued after the meeting. It added that the prime minister appreciated the ongoing efforts and expressed satisfaction over the performance of the National Intelligence Coordination Committee.
Earlier, Director General ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid received the prime minister and federal ministers at the ISI Secretariat.
The briefing was attended by Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, and the chiefs of ISI, Intelligence Bureau and Federal Investigation Agency.
The government had notified the establishment of the National Intelligence Coordination Committee on January 22 this year as a platform for intelligence coordination and for ensuring a unified and wholesome national intelligence assessment.
Earlier on May 24th, according to the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement, Prime Minister Imran Khan and the country’s top military officials were briefed on the national and regional security situation.
The PM, who was accompanied by some cabinet members, was briefed during a visit they made to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Secretariat in Islamabad.
Upon their arrival, Director-General ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed welcomed the PM and other officials.
The prime minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza, Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar.
As per the PM Office, PM Imran lauded the ISI for their “diligent efforts” for national security and expressed his satisfaction over its professional preparedness.
