Suspect in Lahore blast arrested

LAHORE: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into Johar Town blast, law enforcement agencies have arrested owner of the vehicle used in the explosion.
According to details, the owner is foreign national named Peterson David and was offload from a Karachi-bound flight at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. He has been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Earlier, it was revealed that the car which was allegedly used in Johar Town blast entered Lahore from Babu Sabu interchange around 9:40am on Wednesday and went through checking by police personnel at the interchange.
A case of Johar Town bomb blast has also been registered in CTD Lahore police station on the complaint of SHO Abid Baig. The FIR includes 7ATA, 3/4 Explosives Act, 302, 324, 148/149 and other serious provisions.
Three unidentified terrorists have also been named in the FIR. The text of the FIR states that the terrorists used a vehicle and a motorcycle for the operation. The blast killed three people and injured 21.
Besides, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday said that Punjab police were close to arresting the culprits responsible for Wednesday’s blast in Lahore’s Johar Town that claimed the lives of three citizens. The minister tweeted that officials had achieved “great success” during the investigation process. “Punjab police will soon arrest the suspects and give good news to the people,” he said.
In a video shared alongside the tweet, the interior minister said that Pakistan’s enemies could not tolerate the economic and political stability in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and had started adopting “terrorist routes”. He said that elements that want to spread chaos in the country would fail as Pakistan “will never come under pressure”.
“We have completed 86 per cent of fencing work on the Afghanistan border and 46pc of the work on the border with Iran,” he said.
