Kuwait Emir to visit Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on the invitation of President Arif Alvi has accepted to visit Pakistan in near future, the President Office said Monday.
The acceptance was conveyed in a letter by the Emir of Kuwait in response to the invitation by President Alvi. The Emir of Kuwait expressed satisfaction over the strong relations between Pakistan and Kuwait. He showed his commitment to further expand relations in all fields for the mutual benefit of two countries.
The Emir of Kuwait thanked Pakistan for acknowledging Kuwait’s role in resolving the issues of Muslim Ummah especially Palestine. He hoped that the world would soon control the global pandemic of coronavirus. Last year, Dr Arif Alvi on October 5, 2020 had met crowned emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Kuwait and offered condolences on the passing of Kuwaiti ruler Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah last month.
Sheikh Sabah had ruled Kuwait, an OPEC oil producer and a US ally, since 2006 and steered its foreign policy for more than 50 years. “During his meeting with the new emir of Kuwait, High Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the President offered profound sympathies and heartfelt condolences on behalf of the leadership, Government and people of Pakistan,” the foreign office said in a statement. “The President conveyed that the Pakistani nation fully shared the sorrow and grief of their Kuwaiti brethren and stood by them in this difficult time.”
“The late emir’s services to the Kuwaiti nation, his contribution to the Pakistan-Kuwait relationship will be long remembered,” the president said.He also conveyed his best wishes to the new emir, who expressed gratitude to Alvi, PM Imran Khan and Pakistani people for sharing in the sorrow of the Kuwaiti people.
