Cops seek public co-op in curbing drug menace

ISLAMABAD: In continuation with its anti-drugs campaign, Capital Cops have sought public help to eradicate the menace from the society. The police made announcements on loudspeakers in the mosques on Friday to educate the public about the effects of drugs on society and sought their support in eradicating the menace.
The senior officers of Capital Cops made announcements in their respective areas so that the public could be directly involved in the campaign. The officials said that on special directions of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman, SSP Operations Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer made announcements at loudspeaker from Faisal Mosque, Additional SP Islamabad Farhat Abbas Kazmi from Jamia Masjid in sector G-6/2 while the zonal SPs and SHOs made announcements in their respective areas.

SSP Operations said that the police was continuing the campaign against the drugs and added that police alone could not fight this menace. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in this cause.
He said so far hundreds of drug-peddlers have been arrested as the police continue its action against the criminals. He appealed to the parents to keep a strict eye on their children so that they don’t fall prey to any anti-social activity. He also appealed to the religious leaders to help educate the public about the menace of drugs.
It is worthwhile to mention here that a day earlier, IGP Islamabad had sought help from the Islamabad ulema in fighting the menace.
