Industrial uplift on the cards: PM

-Work on Jhaljao-Bela Road to start today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday said that industrial development was among the top priorities of the government and they were ensuring facilities to the small and medium industries to create job opportunities.
The prime minister was talking to Minister for Industries and Production Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar who called on him.
The prime minister observed that due to government’s positive policies, the development of industries at such a large scale despite Covid pandemic, was a good sign. Due to full functioning of industries, employment opportunities were emerging in the country, he added.
The minister briefed the prime minister about the steps taken for the industrial development in the country.
Besides, the industries minister also apprised the prime minister of the progress on the construction of 1500-acre industrial zone in Karachi and SME policy.In order to honor his commandments to the infrastructural development, Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch the rehabilitation and upgradation of Jhaljao-Bela Road Wednesday (today) to provide connectivity between Awaran and Bela areas of Balochistan.
The project is under administrative control of Balochistan Government and the National Highway Authority would execute it.
According to the project brief, the rehabilitation and upgradation of 80-kilometer road would cost around Rs9.56 billion which would take another three years to complete. The road would have two lanes including 182 culverts which would cater to around 2,645 vehicles per day. The project would create more than 2, 756 direct and indirect jobs and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow resulting in reduction in vehicle operating cost.
It would also help boost economic activities and overall uplift of adjoining areas besides ensuring better farm to market access.
