–ISPR says perpetrators have suffered casualties but were able to escape into nearby mountains
RAWALPINDI: An officer of Pakistan Army has embraced martyrdom during an operation launched on the presence of terrorists in Balochistan’s Kohlu district, the military said in a statement on Sunday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the forces had received information about the presence of terrorists in a hideout in the district, prompting security forces to conduct a clearance operation in the area.
“As soon as troops started cordoning the area, terrorists while fleeing the hideout opened indiscriminate fire. During ensuing heavy exchange of fire, Captain Haider Abbas embraced shahadat in pursuit of the terrorists,” the statement added.
The ISPR further said that a deliberate follow-up operation is underway in the area to deal with the perpetrators who have suffered casualties but were able to escape into nearby mountains.
“Security forces operations to eliminate the terrorists will continue and they will not be allowed to sabotage hard-earned peace in Balochistan,” it added.
The statement said that the funeral prayers of Shaheed Captain Haider Abbas were offered at Karachi. Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Muhammad Saeed attended the funeral.
It added that serving officers, soldiers, relatives and large number of people attended the funeral prayers of the martyred who was buried with complete military honour.
Last month, ten soldiers embraced martyrdom after terrorists attacked a security forces’ check post in Balochistan’s Kech district, ISPR had said.
The media wing of the military said that intense exchange of fire occurred in the “fire raid” by terrorists on the check post. It added that the forces repulsed the attack, killing one terrorist, injuring several others and apprehending three. –ISPR
