Pakistani businessmen invited to Algerian trade fair

ISLAMABAD: Algerian Envoy Brahim Romani has invited the Pakistani trade and business community to attend an international trade fair to be held in Algeria in June, WealthPK reported.

He made the invitation during a recent visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

Speaking to businessmen on the occasion, he said that Algeria was keen to establish solid economic ties with Pakistan. “It is high time the two countries developed strong economic relations.

Bilateral trade between the two countries will help boost economies of both the countries as Algerian traders and businesspersons consider Pakistan an attractive market.”

He continued: “Algeria is one of the potential markets in the African region. That’s why an international trade fair is going to be held there in June. Pakistani business and trade leaders should participate in it to help improve the business linkages between the two countries. The trade fair will help them explore new avenues of trade.”

Brahim Romani also stressed the need for establishing a Pakistan-Algeria business council. He assured that the Algerian Embassy in Pakistan was always keen to facilitate Pakistani business community on swift processing of visas and other documentation.
The Algerian envoy noted that Pakistan was one of the best information technology service providers. “Algeria is willing to get benefit from Pakistani expertise in IT sector.”

Speaking on the occasion, ICCI president Muhammad Shakeel Munir stressed that it was important to enhance bilateral trade ties between the two countries. He said that the two countries could trade with each other in multiple sectors, including marble and granite, textile materials, cotton, construction material, chemicals, fertilisers, aluminium, plastic products, electronics, food items, etc. “Algeria can import a variety of high-quality Pakistani merchandise.”

From 1995 to 2019, Pakistani exports to Algeria increased from $2.27 million to $14.3 million at 7.97% growth rate. In 2021, Pakistan exported multiple goods to Algeria worth $17.87 million and imported goods worth $5.33 million.
