FAISALABAD: As many as 1906 Metric Tenn wheat has been shifted to wheat procurement center after thwarted the smuggling attempt of wheat during last week and 7 FIRs have also been launched for illegal transportation of wheat. This was stated in the review meeting chaired by the Divisional Commissioner Zahid Hussain on implementation of wheat procurement campaign in the division.
The Additional Commissioner Co-ordination Tariq Mahmood, ACs Umar Maqbool, Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf, DD Food Shahid Khokhar, Dirextir Agriculture Ch.Abdul Hameed, DD Agriculture Khalid Mehmood and a representative officer of Punjab Police were also present.
In the meeting, it was informed that in a week, 216 legal raids were carried out across the division to check the illegal movement and storage of wheat and sacks of wheat were seized also.
The Divisional Commissioner said that complete record of distribution of bardana and procurement of wheat should be compiled.
He said adding that all measures should be taken to achieve the target of 100% procurement of wheat.
He said informing further that, progress meeting on implementation of the campaign would be held regularly.
Further the DD Food informed that the target of 532,510 metric tonnes of wheat procurement have been set for which 40 procurement centers have been set up across the division where transparent distribution and procurement process of bardana is also underway. He informed that teams are working to stop the movement of smuggling of wheat at 13 interchanges of motorway besides duty staff are also active at 70 other points at highways.
