Army Chief hails Troops’ vigilance

| During visit to LoC Gen. Bajwa briefed on security situation, operational preparedness of formation

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday appreciated the combat readiness and high state of morale of the troops stationed at the Line of Control (LOC)’s Chakothi Sector.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Bajwa passed the remarks while visiting the forward areas along the LOC. During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed on the situation along LOC and the operational preparedness of the formation. He also interacted with the troops deployed along LOC in the Chakothi Sector and spent time with them.
“COAS appreciated their combat readiness and high state of morale,” said the ISPR. Earlier, on arrival, COAS was received by Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza. It is noteworthy that Pakistan and India had last year in Feb agreed to strict adherence to the 2003 ceasefire along the LoC and other border sectors. The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India contacted and discussed the situation at the Line of Control and other border sectors in the contact, the ISPR had said in a statement on Feb 25, 2021.
Major General Babar Iftikhar had dismissed Indian Army Chief General M M Naravane’s claim about the Line of Control (LoC) ceasefire as “clearly misleading”.
“Indian COAS claiming LOC ceasefire holding because they negotiated from position of strength,is clearly misleading,” the Pakistan Army’s spokesperson had said in a statement.
He had stated in clear terms that the ceasefire was agreed only due to Pakistan’s concerns about the safety of the people of Kashmir living on both sides of the frontier. “No side should misconstrue it as their strength or other’s weakness,” he had said. –ISPR
