ISLAMABAD: Capital Cops on Thursday launched a crackdown against unauthorized number plates and tinted glass vehicles to reduce crime in the city.
Following IGP Islamabad directions SSP Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran tasked zonal Superintendent of Police, Sub-divisional Police officers and Station House Officers to take strict action against the law breakers.
The SSP operations said the capital police has taken multiple initiatives to control crime, adding that unregistered vehicles were being used in criminal activities.
The campaign will help police in controlling street crimes in the federal capital, said SSP.
He appealed the citizens to cooperate with police and travel on vehicles bearing registered number plate issued by the excise office.
People should carry their vehicles’ registration documents while traveling on Islamabad roads, he observed.
Citizens may contact police helpline 1715 in case of any complaint.
Asad urges govt to call elections forthwith

ISLAMABAD: Describing the four-year period of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government as a ‘golden era’ in the country’s history, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Asad Umar on Thursday asked the present coalition government to immediately call elections given its inability to control the uncertain economic situation.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that the economy under the PTI government progressed at the rate of six per cent. “Similarly, 5.5 million job opportunities were also created when we were at the helm of the affairs,” he added.
He also utilized the occasion to lash out at the present coalition government, saying it was the result of a ‘foreign conspiracy’. “But people are well aware of this fact. And they will not spare it,” he hoped.
Asad said it was crystal clear that people were now politically conscious, and they supported PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
He was of the view that the government was ‘confused’. “No matter how many arrests you make, we are not going to be intimated; and will not relent,” he vowed.
Responding to a question about the date for the much talked-about long march towards Islamabad, PTI stalwart said only the party chairman knew it. “But the government will be stunned to see the spate of people on roads once Imran gives the call for it,” he said.
Asad said it was unfortunate the government was providing security to those on bail. “But there is no security for the leader of the stature of Imran Khan,” he regretted.
